October Exhibition Moves to Locomotion

After many years of holding our annual Model Railway Exhibition at the Civic Centre in Shildon, we have decided that the time has come to move on.

The Civic Centre venue has serve us well over the years, and we have always been delighted with the service we have received and the helpfulness of the staff. However, in recent times, we have felt that a bigger venue would give us more scope to mount a more ambitious show, and so, with a tinge of sadness, the time has come to move on.

Locomotion has proved for the last 3 years to have been an ideal location for our club 'Open Days' in June, and following on from that success, we will now use the museum for our October Show as well.

Using Locomotion will enable us to :-

Because of the change of location, we are also changing the date of the show to the weekend of the 13th. and 14th. of October. Make a date in your diary, and watch this space later in the year for full details of the exhibition.

A.G.M. Report - Great Year for Club

At our recent A.G.M. members celebrated what had been a great year for the Shildon Model Railway Club.

The club is financially sound, and the treasurer's report and balance sheet were accepted.

Strong links with Locomotion led to the 'Shildon' layout being on permanent display at the museum, and great working relationships had been established. In addition, the club is actively pursuing affiliation with the Friends of NRM. The club will seek to become involved in any forthcoming collaboration between major manufacturers and the museum.

A new club layout - Skip Lane should be started in the coming year and all members were urged to support this project. A planning committee has been established to progress the project. When complete, the new layout could be displayed in the museum. Members were also urged to seek training in the operation of the various club layouts.
