Our club meeting night has now moved back to Tuesday. This is because most of the heavy work on our new layout is now complete and Tuesday is a more convenient night for members. If you are thinking about joining a model railway club, this is a unique chance to take part in the building of a brand new exhibition layout and we have vacancies for new members.
Our N Gauge layout Shildon will be exhibited at the Tanfield Railway 'Legends of Steam' event on September 11th. and 12th..
Shildon (N), known in the club as 'Little Shildon' depicts the atmosphere of operations in the area from the 1950's onwards, before the closure of the railway works and rationalisation. The layout has been recently restored.
This is a weekend of live steam events on the Tanfield Railway, with a small model railway show being held in the carriage shed. There is usually loads of action with a variety of special steam hauled trains and other heritage items.
Plans are taking shape for our 25th. Annual model railway exhibition in the Shildon Civic Centre on October 2nd. and 3rd.
As usual, there will be a variety of layouts on display in an assortment of sizes and scales, as well as trade support, refreshments (including licensed bar) and a prize draw. Details of the show will appear on this page shortly.
June 2010 - the former Weardale Railway Locomotive Preservation Group (WRLPG) has changed its name to DLPG (Durham Locomotive Preservation Group). The group will continue to support the Weardale Railway as well as other local groups including the Bowes Railway and the NRM Shildon, with which strong ties have been created over the years.
We will be supporting the group by exhibiting a layout at their forthcoming workshop open day in October
