This layout is over 20 years old, and it was intended to 'retire' it after the Sherburn Hill show in 2006. Recently however, the club have undertaken some restoration work and the layout is now back in action.
At exhibitions, we run the layout over a very wide time period. The scenario is that Shildon remained an important centre of wagon building and repair, and that the railway system, station, works etc. are all still as they were in the 1950s. This allows us to run any time period from the begginings af BR right through to the modern day.

A two car DMU waits for the starter with a local passenger service in the 1960s.

The unique W1 locomotive, in its rebuilt form, hurries through Shildon with a rake of teak coaches. while a local coal train has been held in a siding. During shows, a wide range of locos and stock can be seen on the layout and there is always something passing by.
