Stop-press - Club Loses meeting room

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we can no longer meet at our clubrooms in the Southerne Club at Newton Aycliffe

The Social Club has gone into voluntary liquidation and has ceased trading. It closed it's doors on 18th of September 2008. We have moved our layouts to secure storage. We held an emergency meeting on Tuesday 23rd. September to discuss the way forwards. If anyone out there can help with our present dilemma, please get in touch urgently by email.

New meeting arrangements

The club will meet each Tuesday from 7:30 at the Shildon Civic Hall - this will allow members to meet and socialise. The club is still a going concern, despite present difficulties and new members are welcome.

We are a small club established for 23 years with 20 members. We have junior members to whom we teach the arts of our hobby. These include model and layout building, electronics, joinery, metal work, photography and the history of local and national railways etc.

We display model layouts at exhibitions around the north of England, also venturing into Scotland. We have 9 exhibition layouts in N and OO gauge.

We were originally based in The Old Coach House and the Hackworth Old School House at Shildon and are presently urgently looking for new accommodation due to the recent loss of our clubroom.
